About

Summer Woodson Berg’s practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate transactions and finance, however, Ms. Berg also has experience with entity formation and general contract and commercial transactions.

Ms. Berg represents parties in all phases of acquisition, disposition, zoning and development of commercial and residential properties, including drafting contracts, easements and leases, performing due diligence, and facilitating closings. On the finance end, Ms. Berg has represented both borrowers and lenders in negotiation of mortgages, construction loans, mezzanine and other types of secured loans.

Ms. Berg’s background in litigation has proven to be a great asset in achieving favorable results for clients through the court systems, arbitration, and mediation. Ms. Berg has litigated in the courts of New York, Arizona, Colorado, and California in the following areas: business and contract matters, breach of fiduciary duties, trust accountings, medical malpractice, indemnification, negligence, general torts, construction defect, shareholder derivative and class actions, will contests, guardianship and conservatorship.

Prior to forming her own law firm, Ms. Berg worked 5 years at national law firm The Law Offices of Bovino & Associates and started her career as an associate at the international law firm Troutman Sanders in New York City.

Throughout law school, Ms. Berg served as a legal intern for the NYC Department of Buildings, the city agency charged with regulation of zoning and interpretation of the Zoning Resolution. Ms. Berg was also a legal intern at the New York Attorney General, Bureau of Real Estate Finance, during Elliot Spitzer’s term. Before attending law school, Ms. Berg worked as a lobbyist in Arizona representing a multitude of clients in every industry at the state capital. Ms. Berg also worked as a paralegal for the Phoenix real estate and construction litigation law firm, Eckley and Associates, where she assisted a team of litigators in bringing actions against real estate developers.

Ms. Berg has been selected as a Colorado Super Lawyers’ Rising Star year over year starting in 2013. Less than 2.5% of attorneys under the age of 40 or with less than 10 years experience are named Rising Stars by Super Lawyers
